It was a day no one thinks will happen to them. My parents were in an incident that left them stranded without cash, credit cards or phones. From miles away, my sister and I scrambled to help. After ensuring their safety, we helped wipe their phones, cancel credit cards, and protect their identities from future fraud.
As I reflected on the day’s events, a disconnect gnawed at me. I considered how pervasive technology has become, and the unintended complexity it had created. While technology has made life better for countless billions, it is an ecosystem ill-designed for seniors. Services are being designed to circumvent the human-to-human experience, rather than act in service to it. No senior should ever have to confront the despair of isolation created by technology. As we like to say at Thrivefull, living your life to the fullest shouldn’t require a user manual.
For over a decade, I've lived and worked in the United States, thousands of miles away from my parents in India. Enjoying time with them during my a sabbatical, I realized that to maintain the level of independence that they’ve long been accustomed to, they could use a helping hand.
I've always planned on being actively involved in their day-to-day life, however, my ability is limited by time and a great distance. I began looking for localized solutions to support my parents. I quickly realized that most of the tech-enabled solutions my generation takes for granted are illconceived for my parents’ generation and do not meet needs of their ongoing lifestyle. As I spoke with friends in India and the US, it became clear that for seniors seeking independent lifestyles, the struggle is universal.
Though founded in 2022, Thrivefull has been years in the making. With extensive backgrounds in patient access, founders Kris and Shantanu are excited to bring you their shared vision, rooted in a deeply personal mission.
These experiences—along with countless similar stories from friends and family—inspired us to develop Thrivefull, with the mission of creating purpose-built solutions for seniors to help them age independently in their homes. Thrivefull is where technology and humanity come together to support millions of seniors, right where they are, in their homes and communities.
